The Salzburg Red Bulls gambled and lost in Jesenice going down 1-0 to the Slovenians. Pierre Page's squad rested most of their key players to concentrate on the Continental Cup finals coming up this weekend in Grenoble expecting that they would still be able to handle their last place opponents. Unfortunately for them, American Dov Grumet-Morris was unbeatable in goal and a late tally gave the home side the victory.

Mannheim has hired on former Krefeld head coach Martin Jiranek to assist new head coach Teal Fowler after the club fired Doug Mason. Mason was let go on Monday,fired by his second team in two seasons. The German-Canadian Jiranek is a former top player in the DEL.

Former San Jose farmhand Seamus Kotyk has agreed to a contract for the remainder of the 2009-10 season with Innsbruck where he played two seasons in the EBEL before the club voluntarily dropped down to the Nationalliga. The goalie from London, ON is a 146-game AHL veteran who also won a Memorial Cup with Ottawa in 1998-99.

Former Colorado College winger Noah Clarke has been released by Ambri-Piotta and will most likely be joining Slavia Praha of the Czech Extraliga. The 30-year-old Californian registered only 8 points in 22 games for the Swiss team this season.

German-Canadian Kyle Helms of the Ravensburg Tower Stars has agreed to terms with the Hamburg Freezers on a contract for the 2010-11 season. The 23-year-old Cambridge, ON native has 11 goals and 18 assists in 25 games, good for 2nd on the team.
